Work has been progressing at the site of the Leadville Irish Miners’ Memorial and we will be having a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, September 17th at 10am to celebrate the completion of Phase 1. The centerpiece is already in place on the plinth along with a rock from the Climax mine. The spiral walkways and landscaping around the memorial are currently being developed and we also will have temporary panels on site showing all the names of those we are commemorating.
All are welcome to attend and people will have time to wander and explore the unmarked graves. The new Irish Consul General, Micheál Smith will be in attendance.
Afterwards, we have arranged a group booking at a Leadville restaurant. Space is limited but there may be additional space available if you are interested in joining us.
Leadville will be holding their Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2pm that afternoon.
